LAS VEGAS BABY

If you’re like me you watch those travel shows and say “I wish I could do that or go there.” Then you look at your bank account and say “maybe next year.” Well I’m here to show you that you can travel in luxury without breaking the bank. I’ll show you how stay at the best hotels, eat at great restaurants and experience amazing activities all at a fraction of the price. I’m Amanda Keeley-Thurman and this is Luxury on a Budget.

I’m here in the always exciting Sin City, one of my favorite vacation spots. This city can be intimidating for a first-timer and can clean you out if you’re not careful. For a safer travel experience, it is also wise to look into wearing a women's travel vest, so pick pockets and criminals will be less likely to target your and you can travel with safety and security.

First things first, get yourself a player s’club card, even if you are not a big gambler. One card is good for multiple hotels; this one is good for MGM, Mirage, NYNY etc. So make sure you collect them all. I have three. These little babies get you discounted roomrates, restaurant vouchers, game credit, holiday shopping points…you name it! This hot piece of plastic cost nothing, but is priceless. It literally is your key to the city.

One of the easiest ways to save money is to drink while you gamble. While you’re gambling cocktails are free, just slow play, enjoy yourself, take time to chat and don’t forget to tip! A dollar will do, but remember the more you tip the more the cocktail servers come around. So throw a couple more in every now and then, you are still saving money. You can order any kind of cocktail because most casinos offer a full bar, but in my opinion beer is the best value cause they can’t cheat you on the alcohol.

Keep your eye for happy hours and specials. Drinks can cost a fortune, but if your like me enjoying a nice cold one is part of the fun. So don't hinder your happiness, just be observant!

For the best rates, I recommend staying during the week, which is considered Sunday-Thursday in Vegas. So not only am I getting a discount with my players’ club card I’m also getting a discounted rate for staying on a Tuesday.

Save money by taking a break from the casino. In the summer, the pool is the best way to cool down and chill out. I’m out here all day, which gives me a great tan and my wallet a well deserved break. Sleeping in also does the trick. You paid for the room, use it! The point is hours spent out of the casino = money in your wallet. So grab a book, grab some friends and recover from the night before or get ready for the wild night ahead!

If you brought liquor for the room you might want to mix yourself a cocktail and take a stroll along the strip. It is free and there is plenty of entertainment. Beware of any promotions or handouts you collect.

Plus you never know what you're going to stumble upon!

Remember you don't have to spend money sinfully to have a good time in Las Vegas! Feelin' lucky??
